If a defendant's speed is less than 10 miles over the speed limit, a negotiated plea or plea agreement will be offered. The defendant signs a guilty plea, pays double the bond, the plea is sent to the prosecutor's office, and the original charge is amended to a lesser speed. It is then sent to the judge for an Order. The abstract is not sent to the state because the citation is amended to less than 6 miles over the speed limit, which, according to the State of Wyoming, does not go on the defendant's record. This is not an option for violations within a school zone, or superintendent speed zones. This is first offender status only. This program is offered to both juveniles and adults.
