The City of Green River celebrated its employees at an appreciation event in their honor on Friday, November 14, at the Expedition Island Pavilion.
City employees are an invaluable asset to the community. They continuously demonstrate dedication and excellence in their service to the community and often go above and beyond in the scope of their duties.
Recipients for the top three awards, Outstanding Full Time Employee of the Year, Outstanding Part Time Employee of the Year, and Community Service Award, were nominated and voted on by the City employees.
This year, Mary Lou Holcomb, Senior Administrative Assistant for the Public Works Department, was recognized as the
Outstanding Full Time Employee of the Year.
Mary Lou is an exceptional employee, having been employed with the City since 1994. She received this award previously in 1997, and since then she has gotten even better. As part of her duties, she helps keep track of all Public Works employees, of which approximately 50 are men, which is not an easy task for anyone. In addition to her regular duties, she schedules and tracks the safety program for Public Works Administration and Engineering, works on the development and the completion of plans and specification for Capital improvement Projects, and excels at customer service and dealing with citizens both by telephone and in person. She does all that is asked of her and goes above and beyond in her job requirements. Mary Lou is very deserving of this award.
The Outstanding Part Time Employee of the Year Award recognizes a part time employee who displays an above average level of performance on a continuous basis. Brandy Stoeger, Recreation Assistant, was recognized as Outstanding Part Time Employee of the Year.
Brandy started her part time career with the City in July 2007. Since then, Brandy has proven to be an extremely valuable employee in several different areas. Brandy has played a vital role in the formation of the Green River After School Program and Summer Day Camp as the head leader for all staff and children at the site. In addition, Brandy has assisted in many other leisure program activities, several camps, and sporting activities. Brandy has also been involved in keeping the Gymnastic Program running and helps around the office. She has a strong sense of leadership, initiative, and dedication to all these programs and takes time to improve her skill set with additional training opportunities. Brandy has proven to be an invaluable employee and an asset to the City of Green River.
The Community Service Award is presented to an employee who, through volunteer effort, has served the community the most during the last year. This year the award was presented to Monica Neumann, Accounting Technician II.
Monica is very active in the Football Booster Club, Spurs Soccer Club, High School Soccer Booster Club, and Wrestling Booster Club.
