The Green River Parks and Recreation Department is partnering with the Parents Association for Youth Sports (PAYS). The purpose of this partnership is to educate and motivate parents to work together with our department to provide the best possible sports experiences for their children. The PAYS program encourages good sportsmanship, positive participation, and keeping youth sports in its proper perspective. Beginning with the Outdoor Soccer Program in June, one parent from each family is required to attend a thirty-minute “Parent Orientation” class before registering their child. The class combines a video presentation and discussion to explain the role of parents in our youth league programs, parental expectations, and the sports philosophy of the Green River Parks and Recreation Department. Parents will be required to take this class every two years. The “Parent Orientation” class will be offered numerous times throughout registration for Outdoor Soccer, Jr. Jazz Basketball, and Indoor Soccer. Parents unable to attend any of the class times, may call Kevin Sadler at 872-0515 to schedule an individual time or may opt to take the on-line course offered through the Parent Association of Youth Sports.
